การใช้ adjective with preposition หรือ adjective preposition combinations เช่น nice of someone (to do something), nice to someone, angry about something, angry with someone for doing something, responsible for (something), responsible to (someone), etc. ในตอนที่แล้วเราพูดถึงเรื่อง การใช้ preposition ตามหลัง adjective ไปบ้างแล้ว สำหรับตอนนี้เรามาดูการใช้ adjective + preposition ในรายละเอียดเพิ่มเติมและตัวอย่างประโยคกันนะคะ

nice / kind / good / generous / polite / stupid / silly etc. OF someone (to do something) ตัวอย่างประโยคเช่น

(be) nice / kind / good / generous / polite / rude / friendly / cruel etc. TO someone ตัวอย่างประโยคเช่น

angry / annoyed / funous / upset ABOUT something
angry / annoyed / funous / upset WITH someone to do something

มันไม่มีประโยชน์ที่จะโกรธในเรื่องไร้สาระ
I was annoyed with him for interrupting me.

excited / worried / nervous / happy etc. ABOUT a situation ตัวอย่างประโยคเช่น

We are excited about the move to the new building.

pleased / satisfied / happy / delighted / disappointed WITH ใช้บอกความรู้สึกเกี่ยวกับสิ่งที่ได้รับมา หรือ ผลลัพธ์ของบางสิ่งบางอย่าง ตัวอย่างประโยคเช่น

They were delighted with the present I gave them.

surprised / shocked / amazed / astonished / upset AT or BY something ตัวอย่างประโยคเช่น

Everybody was surprised at the news.

I hope you weren’t shocked by what I said.

fed up / bored WITH something ตัวอย่างประโยคเช่น

Sorry about / for

sorry ABOUT ใช้แสดงความเสียใจกับสถานการณ์หรือบางสิ่งที่เกิดขึ้น ตัวอย่างประโยคเช่น

I felt very sorry about the sudden death of my friend’s father.
ฉันรู้สึกเศร้ามากกับการตายอย่างกระทันหันของพ่อเพื่อนฉัน
Sorry about last night.
เสียใจนะกับเรื่องเมื่อคืน

sorry FOR or ABOUT something someone did ตัวอย่างประโยคเช่น

I’m so sorry for/about what I did.
ฉันขอโทษเกี่ยวกับสิ่งที่ฉันทำ
I’m sorry for/about shouting at you yesterday.
ฉันขอโทษที่ตะคอกใส่คุณเมื่อวาน
(เราอาจจะพูดว่า I’m sorry I shouted at you yesterday. ก็ได้)

feel / be sorry FOR ใช้แสดงความเสียใจกับบางคนที่ตกอยู่ในสถาณการณ์แย่ๆ ตัวอย่างประโยคเช่น

I feel sorry for Somchai. He’s had a lot of bad luck. (เราไม่ใช้ I feel sorry about Somchai)
